Man charged after landord-tenant dispute leads to shooting at Pembroke Pines gas station

The suspect and victim initially met at the gas station to discuss a tenant-landlord dispute, investigators said

Police have charged a Pembroke Pines man following a shooting Monday at a gas station.

Jose Rodriguez-Julio, 32, faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following shots fired at a Mobil gas station on Flamingo Road and Taft Street before 4 p.m., according to Pembroke Pines Police.

Rodriguez-Julio agreed to meet his landlord at the gas station to discuss a dispute, police said.

When he noticed his landlord arrive at the location, Rodriguez-Julio approached the vehicle armed with a gun, police said.

The victim, who was in fear for his life, armed himself with a gun and fired shots toward Rodriguez-Julio, police said. He ran off and called 911.

Rodriguez-Julio drove away from the scene, but he quickly surrendered to investigators.

No one was struck by a bullet during the shooting. Police advised the public to stay away from the area during the investigation.
