ICE arrests 1, another on the loose after fleeing driver crashed into pole in Homestead

According to Homestead Police, the crash happened at the intersection of West Mowery Drive and Northwest Ninth Avenue

An undocumented migrant was taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and a second person is on the loose after a driver fled from agents and crashed into a pole in Homestead on Thursday morning, officials said.

ICE officials said officers were conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle when the driver fled from them at a high rate of speed.

As the driver fled, they crashed into a building and took down a light pole, which caused the intersection to be closed in all directions.

Footage at the scene captured crews putting the vehicle onto a tow truck.

ICE did not pursue the vehicle when it fled but agents arrived at the scene when it crashed and took one of the occupants, who they said was undocumented, into custody.

The driver of the vehicle was the intended target and fled the scene with another occupant, ICE said.

No injuries were reported
